Lessons with the legend

DJ Prince Ice — The Living Legend

What defines a legend? Experience, skill, humility, integrity, and an unwavering passion for the craft. In Columbia, South Carolina, one name embodies all of these traits and more — DJ Prince Ice.

A true icon with decades in the game, DJ Prince Ice has become a household name both locally and internationally. With titles that span DJ, turntablist, radio announcer, producer, songwriter, motivational speaker, teacher, husband, father, and grandfather, Ice has spent a lifetime wearing many hats — and wearing them well.

His musical journey began remarkably early: spinning records at age 3, DJing at 5, learning piano and songwriting from his mother at 7, and by 8 was performing as a singer, rapper, and dancer. These early passions launched a career that has never slowed down. While still in high school, Ice was already opening and DJing for legendary artists, which led him to study broadcasting at the Columbia School of Broadcasting in Atlanta, GA.

At just 18 years old, he signed his first record deal, launched a touring career, and entered the world of radio and TV. His radio breakthrough came in 1989 at WKWQ Hot 95.3 in Batesburg-Leesville, SC, where he was mentored by regional radio legends. By 1991, Ice joined the powerhouse station WWDM 101.3 FM – The Big DM, one of the top five radio stations in the country. There, he earned his reputation hosting shows like The Quiet Storm, Friday Night Dance Party, Club 101, and Ice Cold Radio, consistently ranking #1 in all demographics.

Not only a radio staple, DJ Prince Ice ventured into television, hosting video shows like Video Boombox, and later held dual roles at both The Big DM and Hot 103.9/93.9 as Assistant Program Director and Music Director.

In 2005, he released his debut mixtape “Feels So Good” through Fontana/Universal Records, a celebration of clean, fun music that showcased South Carolina talent. In 2018, he followed up with “Hands in the Air!” — a globally distributed compilation blending uplifting sounds with party energy.

To this day, DJ Prince Ice continues to inspire through his work on WWDM, WHXT, and other online affiliates. He remains in high demand for major concerts and events, while mentoring emerging talent and developing upcoming projects in music, podcasts, and television — all platforms designed to give others their “time to shine.”

He’s more than a DJ — he’s a cultural cornerstone, a motivator, a visionary.

He’s your DJ… the living legend… DJ Prince Ice
